Andamanda is the island's biggest water park. It opened on 22 May 2022 in Kathu, about twenty minutes from Patong and a couple of kilometres from Phuket Town. It covers more than ninety thousand square metres, with five themed zones and more than twenty-five attractions. It's open daily from 10:00 to 19:00.
The name gets spelled in different ways in searches: Andamanda, Andamanda Phuket or just "Andaman water park". It's always the same place in Kathu.
What's inside
The design is built around Thai mythology, mainly around the Naga, the serpent guardian of the waters. That's where the zone names come from.
- Great Andaman Bay — the main zone, with an artificial sea of about 10,000 m² and waves up to three metres high
- Pearl Palace — a themed zone with palace architecture
- Coral World — a zone designed as an underwater world
- Children's zones with shallow pools and small slides
- A lazy river about 550 metres long
The slides are graded by difficulty — from family slides to near-vertical drops. Most of the extreme attractions have a height limit.
How much a Phuket water park ticket costs
The price structure is based on height, not age: an adult ticket above a certain height, a child ticket below it, and toddlers under the minimum height go free. Tickets with a hotel transfer, sun loungers and cabanas are sold separately.
The water park changes its prices by season, so it makes sense to check the current price on the official website on the day of your visit. Buying online is usually cheaper than at the ticket office and saves you the queue at the entrance. You can get a ticket with a transfer and a Russian-speaking escort through the request form — a manager will send you the current price.
How to get there
The water park is in Kathu, not far from the Central Phuket shopping centre.
- From Patong — about 20 minutes
- From Phuket Town — 10–15 minutes
- From Karon and Kata — 25–35 minutes
- From Bang Tao and Laguna — 30–40 minutes
Grab and Bolt taxis work all over the island, and there's parking on site. A ticket with a transfer included makes sense if the whole family is going: it comes out close to a taxi both ways.
How much time to allow
Four to six hours is enough to see everything. Many people come for the whole day.
It's best to arrive at opening time. By midday the queues for the popular slides are noticeably longer, and towards evening some zones are less busy.
What to know in advance
- You can't bring your own food and drinks in; there are restaurants and bars inside
- There are lockers, showers and changing rooms on site; locker rental is paid separately
- Payment inside is usually by wristband, which you top up at the entrance
- You need sunscreen even on a cloudy day
- On slides with a height limit children are measured at the entrance, and there's no point arguing
When to go
The water park is open all year round, and this is one case where the rainy season doesn't get in the way. From May to October, when the sea is rough and some sea excursions are cancelled, Andamanda becomes a backup plan for the day. Other options for such days are in the land excursions section — they don't depend on sea conditions either.
In high season, November to April, it's busier, especially over the New Year and Chinese New Year holidays.
Andamanda or Splash Jungle
The island has two water parks left: Andamanda in Kathu and Splash Jungle near Mai Khao in the north.
Andamanda is bigger, newer and more varied, and suits children from six or seven and adults who want serious slides. Splash Jungle is smaller and calmer, and makes sense for those staying in the north of the island or travelling with very young children.
